1. Coaching.

Coaching: The Secret Code to Uncommon Leadership is a must-read for anyone who is responsible for leading others. It is a must-read for anyone who aspires to attain leadership positions in the future. 

The concepts expounded in the book can be applied almost across the board — from coaching teammates on a sports team, co-workers on a project, or leading your team at work. Anyone who is responsible for leading others can draw lessons from this book and apply them to multiple aspects of their lives.

I was captivated by this book. 

Each chapter unfolds like a lesson to be learned. I found myself thinking about the book’s characters long after I had finished reading – seriously, their voices are still in my head! 

The author did an excellent job of clearly expressing what can be hard ground to break, for sure. If you are an entrepreneur or leader who is looking for both guidance and inspiration, I highly recommend this book.

11. The Leader Who Had No Title.

In the book, Robin Sharma’s focus is on those leaders who were not given the opportunity to prove themselves as evil as they turned out to be. 

He recollects those men and women who have proved their leadership skills in a different manner. He talks about those leaders who have been recognized as ordinary people but rose up to become great leaders.

The book explores the journey of the protagonist who happens to be the only son of a billionaire who had led his father’s company for more than 50 years. The hero tries hard to create spaces for himself but something or maybe everything falls short of his expectations. 

He is pushed out of the family business without any reason, and he tries hard to get it back, but in vain. The protagonist finally hits rock bottom when his life is torn apart. He meets an enigmatic mentor who calls himself “the leader who has no title” on whom he relies extensively. 

This man guides him throughout on the path to triumph and eventually gets his life back together on multiple fronts even though he was at his lowest point when he met with this man. 

Though I do consider myself to be a person who is very calm and does not get affected by the external world (I am literally disconnected from the external world) and I get affected mostly by my work. 

The reason being each time I read his novels they never failed to match my daily so-called ‘problems’ that I face mentally and physically as well.

12. The 5 Levels of Leadership.

They have used the help of one minute manager, Mr. E who does everything even for a full year in just one minute.

The purpose of this book is to enable you to get the greatest possible achievement from yourself and those around you. It provides a new and sharply focused approach for managers and explains how it can be applied to almost any type of organization and in any kind of industry.

It is a book that deals with management, management, and management. 

When we say management, we’re talking about the types of tasks and activities that managers undertake on a daily basis, whether it’s running a department or just part of a big project. 

And that’s what leadership in teamwork actually is.

The book will teach you how to get the most out of your employees and yourself while guiding your projects and adjust, drive, and build your strategy based on results while eliminating the guesswork.

14. The Culture Code.

Even though it is uncomfortable to give negative feedback, it is necessary for growth, development, and improvement. So how do you give people candid feedback in a way that will actually improve their performance? 

As Kim Scott explains in Radical Candor, the answer is by getting them to talk about what matters most to them — their work. 

Only after understanding what matters most to your team members, can you get great feedback in a way that will make them better at what they do; improve their performance; and ultimately make a highly skilled team.

16. The Hard Thing about Hard Things.

A true entrepreneur is someone who has a vision for a new company and sees opportunities where others don’t. But the path to success is tough and not without obstacles. 

Horowitz, the author, shows how to get around, over and through the brick walls that surround each new venture. 

He also tells the truth about the journey and addresses all of the difficult and often unpleasant issues entrepreneurs face: 

  1. Firing friends and colleagues. (I’m also facing this).
  2. Failed deals. 
  3. Bankruptcy. 
  4. Credit card debt. 
  5. Negative cash flow. 
  6. Boardroom battles.

In this book, Ben Horowitz — ruthlessly honest, unexpectedly wise — opens up about what he’s learned from being a Silicon Valley veteran of twenty years and an entrepreneur for thirty. 

He talks about hard lessons like deciding whether to sell your company and how much to sell it for (not as much as you think); how to motivate employees (feed them or fire them — or both); why it’s OK to want to make a lot of money; and how much work is actually involved in running a startup (it takes 24/7).

People who call themselves entrepreneurs, and those who think they want to be one day, will see themselves in Horowitz’s work. This book has redefined the word “entrepreneur” as I once knew it before entering the journey.

17. The Five Dysfunctions of a Team.

One of my friends was recently helping a company diagnose and fix team issues. During the diagnostic phase, he used Patrick Lencioni’s The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: A Leadership Fable. We loved this book and we were able to apply many of the lessons in our work with the organization.

This book is about real people in the real world, not in some sort of management training manual or textbook. 

I love how Lencioni spares no one when he tells us what it’s like to work in big organizations! From the frontline to the leadership teams this book is sure to change the way you think about teamwork, your team members, your boss(es), or anyone else that comes up to bat.

See: A team is a group of people working towards a common goal. It’s easy to get a group of people together to work on a project but you have to remember that teamwork takes effort. 

A lot of effort if your team does not display the behaviors you expect from them especially when it comes to working towards a common goal. In this book, Lencioni explains the five dysfunctions of a team that can be found in certain teams and what you can do to correct them.

THE FIVE DYSFUNCTIONS OF A TEAM provides an actionable five-step process to overcoming political divisiveness, bull-headedness, inflated egos, lack of commitment to the greater good, and shortsightedness that prevents our organizations from succeeding. 

The book’s simple verbiage makes it applicable to relationships at any level. The devastating impact these dysfunctions have on organizations creates a compelling reason for why any executive or employee should read and apply THE FIVE DYSFUNCTIONS OF A TEAM.

In Lean In, the much-anticipated follow-up to her blockbuster bestseller Lean In for Graduates, Sandberg uses personal anecdotes, hard data, research, and stories from leading businesswomen to offer strategies that can help any woman thrive in life and in work.

Your ideal teammates or people or followers won’t listen to your ideas, your friends won’t listen to you when you want to go out, and you won’t think of new things to do or try because you don’t really think of yourself as capable of great things. Remember: attitude is everything.

And, if yours is positive (or at least optimistic), people will listen to you, your boss will appreciate your enthusiasm for the job, your friends will like spending time with you because they know you will always have good ideas for fun things to do. 

You can even learn new skills that were beyond your abilities in the past.

Your attitude is the filter through which you will see all that is in your life. You must decide whether to view your negative situations as positive challenges, or your failures as opportunities for growth. 

Each day, make a choice to be proactive because it’s up to you whether you will create a positive attitude or a negative one.

Uplift your attitude, dare to lead, start with understanding the why inspire others through it, build a following, understand their emotions, sacrifice for their motives, become a great leader, and let them help you achieve success.
